JOIN US (free!) for a screening of Frontier State: The Story of Luke Bell, an episode in the PBS series, A State of Mind: Confronting Our Mental Health Crisis.
A panel discussion will follow featuring DEIDRE ASHLEY of Mental Health & Recovery Services of Jackson Hole and JEFF SOLLIS of St. John’s Health. SARA FLITNER of Becoming Jackson Whole will moderate.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re coming together to screen this powerful, personal story that opens the door to a larger conversation about mental illness, community support, and public responsibility.
This event isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s about shifting the way we see, talk about, and respond to mental health—especially severe and persistent mental illness. Luke's story highlights not just the personal toll of untreated or misunderstood mental health struggles, but also the collective failure to support those who need it most.
What to Expect:
○ Film screening of “Frontier State: The Story of Luke Bell”
○ Community panel/guided discussion focused on:
What is mental illness—beyond the headlines and hashtags?
How do we move from compassion to action?
What is our responsibility—as providers, neighbors, friends, and citizens?
○ Spotlight on services: Mental health resources available at St. John’s and Mental Health and Recovery Services Jackson Hole
○ Call to action: Ways to support, advocate, and destigmatize mental illness, especially for those who often go unseen or unsupported.
We believe that mental health is public health—and that every person, whether they’re struggling or not, can play a role in building a healthier, more compassionate community.
This event invites attendees to deepen understanding, challenge stigma, and ask: What can I do?
